A friend left a hat at my house, and I liked the texture of it, so I decided to make one myself. Upon looking it over, I realized the puff stitches line up with the fans in the round below, so I thought changing color every round would make them pop. Just used some leftover yarn, doubled the strand so it’d go fast and be nice and chunky.

Brim - 5 sts hdc ribbing, 48 rows (24 rib columns showing each side)
(if your gauge is different, you want the brim to be ~1.5” wide x 18-20” long, with a number of rows divisible by 8)

Round 1: ((3dc, ch1, 3dc) in top of any rib column;
puff around 3rd v from bottom in next rib column to left) 12 times

Rounds 2-5: ((3dc, ch1, 3dc) in any ch1 space, puff around top of puff from previous round) 12 rimes
(if your gauge is different, do enough 3dc-fan rounds for hat to now be 4-4.25” tall)

Rounds 6-8: ((2dc, ch1, 2dc) in any ch1 space, puff around top of puff from previous round) 12 times
(if your gauge is different, do enough 2dc-fan rounds for hat to now be 5.75”)

Rounds 9-11: (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in any ch1 space, puff around top of puff from previous round) 12 times
(if your gauge is different, do enough 1dc-fan rounds for hat to now be 7” tall)

Round 12: 1dc in each ch1 sp, puff around top of each puff from previous round

Round 13: fpdc around each dc from previous round, puff around top of each puff from previous round
(if your gauge is different, do enough 1fpdc rounds for hat to now be 7.5-7.75” tall)

Round 14: puff around each puff from previous round
(if your gauge is different, do enough puff rounds for hat to now be 8.125” tall)

Round 15: puff around every other puff from previous round
(if your gauge is different, repeat puff dec round until 8 or fewer puffs remaining)

Total hat height should be 8.5-9.5”. Cut long tail, weave through to cinch top, weave in ends.
