I have been anxiously awaiting a skein of pure black alpaca from a local producer, Harmony Meadows. I was delight to get my skein last weekend at the farmer’s market and set to work making my new favorite winter hat.

I started with a double hem ( I’m on a kick) and then a little extra length in the body of the hat. I used a four point decrease arrangement, making a square top. I finished off by knitting a length of icord before bind off. I then sewed it into a little button on the very top.

I’m sure I will get a lot of use out this hat!
