Notes

Not an overly complicated pattern, but I found myself dreading completing this project because of all the weaving in and sewing. Also the ear and antler placement really must be marked while the hat is being worn and was pretty fiddly.

Overall I’m happy with how they turned out for our Christmas pictures, but I was more happy just to be done making them. Too tedious for me.

Toddler-Sized Hat (started & finished 11/21/18)
• Used US size 11 circulars and DPNS
• Cast on 40 using cable cast on
• Knit until hat measured 6” and began decreases
• Used 44 grams of yarn

Small Adult Hat: (started & finished 11/16/18)
• Cast on 52 St using cable cast on.
• Only used size 11 circulars and DPNS because I don’t have any circulars in US 10.5.
• Knit until hat was 5.5” then began decreases. It fits, but would have liked it maybe knit to at least 6” or 6.5”.
• Used 51 grams of yarn

Greyhound Snood (started 11/16/18, finished 11/17/18)
• Following the Greyhound Snood Pattern
• Cast on 48 stitches using cable cast on
• Used US 11 circulars for entire pattern
• Knit until snood measured 6 inches, began wrap and turns for leash hole, then bound off using stretchy bind off method when the snood measured 10”.
• Crocheted a single chain border around the edge of the leash hole to strengthen it and tidy it up.
• Used 72 grams of yarn

Large Adult-sized Hat (started 11/20/18, finished 11/21/18)
• Used US size 11 circulars and DPNS
• Cast on 58 using cable cast on (my husband has dreadlocks so needs a larger sized hat to accommodate for his thicker hair.)
• Knit until hat measured 6.5” and began decreases.
• Used 62 grams of yarn

Toddler Outside Ears:
• Used US size 13 DPNS
• Cast on 20
• Used 10 grams of yarn

Toddler Inside Ears:
• Used US size 8
• Cast on 5 stitches instead of 7. Knit in stockinette for 5 rows, then on row 6 SSK, K1, K2TOG. Row 7 purled. Row 8 sk2p
• Held Yarn Double
• Using Lion Brand Wool-Ease in the color “Fisherman”
• Used 2 grams of yarn total

Adult & Greyhound Outside Ears:
• Used US size 13 DPNS
• Cast on 24
added two knit rows between each decrease round, except for between row 18 & 19
• Used 37 grams of yarn total

Adult Inside Ears:
• Used US size 8
• Held Yarn Double
• Using Lion Brand Wool-Ease in the color “Fisherman”
• Used 7 grams of yarn total

(Did not felt antlers because the yarn was acrylic. I did stuff them slightly with batting though.)

Toddler Antlers (started & finished 12/8/18)
• Used US size 8 DPNS
• Knit them on three needles, instead of two
• Used Lion Brand Wool-Ease in the color “Fisherman”, held double
• Used 6 grams of yarn total

Adult Antlers (finished 12/4/18)
• Used US size 10 DPNS
• Knit them on three needles, instead of two
• Used Pearl Essence Sincerely Chunky Yarn in the color “Cream”
• Used 60 grams of yarn total
