I have knit at least 4 different baby booties from Ravelry, but this pattern is by far my favorite.
It’s easy, it’s quick, it’s adaptable to your needs/preferences (change the size, color, etc), and with some small modifications you end up with only two tails to weave in -- which is plenty to seam up the entire bootie.
Followed the original pattern instructions, knitting on my 3.25mm needles (US size 3) until it called for the first yarn break.
Instead of breaking the yarn, I followed user Powlettx’s project notes (which are awesome and I highly recommend incorporating them for less weaving in!) and purled 19 stitches instead of slipping them. Followed the original pattern notes again until there was 33 stitches left on my needles. I turned and knit 9 stitches then purled the rest to the end. I switched to 2.75mm needles (US size 2) and purled the next row.
I do think the footbed of the booties is a little tall for a newborn, so if I knit these again I’d experiment with maybe only knitting that part for 5-6 rows rather than the full 9 I believe the pattern calls for.
For the matching beanie I used Knitpick’s “Calming Baby Knit Hat” pattern, which can also be found here on Ravelry.
