Notes

This is based on the Mario granny blanket but it will be an Elsa blanket instead. I got the design for Elsa from a cross-stitch pattern on etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/190082242/disney-princess-mi... That shop has lots of great cross-stitch patterns for movie characters :)

I am doing 3 round grannies which are about 3 inch square. The design is 12x20 squares. This time, I plan on sewing together some of the squares as I go.

2014-10-13 - off to a good start with 35 squares hooked up and 11 sewn together. Will try to get a few more squares done in the evenings and then focus on it on the weekend. Feeling motivated!

2014-10-18 - 55 squares done and the arms and part of the face are sewn together. I have the cream and turquoise yarn on hand but will need to head to the store soon to buy the rest of the colours.

2014-10-26 - 86 squares done. This project was put aside most of the week while I finished up a few other things. My goal was to have 120 squares done by the end of the month.

2014-10-28 - picked up the yellows and pink yesterday. Onward and upward!

2014-11-01 - 122 squares done and 99 of them are sewn together in rows. I’ve gone back to sewing in rows only for now because I think it will help keep the seams more even. Once the rows are all done then i’ll stitch them together.

2014-11-03 - 135 squares done, 102 sewn together in rows. I’ll need to go get the background colour soon!

2014-11-07 - 152 squares done, not sure how many sewn together anymore! Will have to count later. Finally settled on navy blue as the background colour and picked it up today. I can see a faint light at the end of the tunnel :)

2014-11-14 - 155 squares done. I had to put this blanket aside while I worked on some other projects that need to be done by the end of the month (this one is for Christmas). I need a break from Christmas decorations so I think I’ll try to finish up the yellow squares tomorrow.

2014-11-19 - 182 squares done, 58 to go!

2014-11-22 - 185 squares done, 138 of them sewn into rows. There are now 6 complete rows too so it’s really starting to come together when I lay the squares all out. I am starting to debate whether or not I want to add another round of navy squares all around. It would mean 60 more squares though… Will have to decide based on progress of other Xmas stuff.

2014-12-06 - 217 squares done! I got side tracked getting ready for a craft sale but now that that is over, I’ll be focused on this again until it gets done :) Not much longer now!

2014-12-06 - 233 squares done. Only 7 to go!! Woo!

2014-12-10 - sat down and finished the final squares this evening - yay!! Planning on sewing most of it together this weekend and then a nice border. Will need to choose an edging.

2014-12-15 I’ve finished about 2/3 of the seaming. Have a few other things on the go but would love to get the sewing done before the weekend. Fingers crossed!

2014-12-20 All done!! Truth be told, if I had more time I would put another row of navy granny squares all around, or make a really thick border. That aside, I am super happy with this blanket! Now my daughter is asking for an Ariel one :)
