I blogged about this project here: http://atbly6.blogspot.com/2014/03/stripey-shawl-ta-da.html
I found the pattern to be well written and easy to follow. It’s a fairly simple pattern and the repeats are easily memorized so it’s a nice project for me to bring on my bus ride to work. I wanted it a bit bigger than the pattern so I used a slightly larger hook to compensate for my tight tension and then added to extra repeats. I am also adding one row of dc across before starting the edging rows.
Update 2014-03-03:
Decided to go with a border with a simpler look than the one in the pattern. I’ve worked 4 rows of single crochets (dark blue, light blue, dark blue, grey) and then am doing a picot edging - ch3 and sl st into the first chain, sl st into each of the next two stitches repeat across.
Update 2014-03-18:
The project sat waiting for it’s tails to be woven in for over a week! I finally took care of that this weekend. Will add some proper “finished project” pictures on the weekend.
Update 2014-03-23:
Got some pics done this weekend. I also wrote out the modifications that I made to the pattern:
Modifications: The pattern calls for 13 repeats in the main body of the shawl, I did 15. I opted not to do the edging in the pattern and instead did 5 rows of single crochet and a picot edging (ch3 and sl st into the first chain, sl st into each of the next two stitches). Lastly, I chose not to block it - I liked how thick and dense the material ended up being and didn’t want to change that.
Overall, I am really happy with this project :)
