I had not worn these socks more than 10 hours when I got a hole in the heel of the left sock. I patched the hole. Wore them for a total of 3 hours and the other heel blew out on the right sock. The left sock opened another hole midway down foot. Not a good idea to use this for socks. I really love the yarn itself, it just didn’t hold up for socks.
5/1/10: My official cast on post #67 for the SKA Mystery Sock Group May 2010 KAL and here is my official cast on post #43 for the Makin Cookies May 2010 KAL.. These look like fun.
5/5/10: Finally got my yarn untangled and balled. I had to make one cut with the scissors, ouch! Will cast on tonight. Bottom two photos of yarn prior to casting on.
5/8/10: Speedy, I am not! I have only gotten 2 rows of the left sock done and the second clue came out today. I have to get moving.
5/9/10: Since yesterday, I have gotten through clue 2 line 11. I am really loving this pattern and this yarn!!!
5/10/10: I finished clue 2 of the left sock. Third photo up from bottom is the photo of this. I am only doing one repeat. Prizes don’t matter to me. I like short socks. Still loving this!
5/11/10: Cast on for the right sock. Already realized that I did something wrong on the left cuff. sigh… On one of the rib patterns I should have done a ktbl and a k2 instead I did 2ktbl. I just finished reading the SKA postings. Now, that I have seen the sock with 2 and 3 repeats, I will have to reconsider my stopping after one repeat. They look so cool with more! Decided to stick with one repeat. I am not sure I will have enough yarn to do more. I finished right sock clue 2. Waiting for next clue.
8/14/11: I finally found this again after having moved. Getting started again today.
9/13/2012: Picked these up to finish them off. I finished the feel and heel flap in both socks. I need to start from the gusset.
9/15/2012: I finished the chart one time for the left foot. Am wondering how to move ahead with a repeat of chart without the 3 stitches that we decreased. I think I just omit those rows, but am worried about design. I will research socks and pattern to double-check. I looked through all projects done and tried finding the thread in the KAL. No luck finding any reference to repeating chart after decreasing. I will give it a go with the way I think it should be and make a note here. finished chart on right sock o e time. The length of socks at this point is 5 1/4 “.
9/16/2012: Starting from heel turn on right sock. Finished chart one time.
9/17/2012: Did 30 rounds of chart repeat to make my sock the needed 8” as I need a 10” sock. The rows that were deleted per decreases: I went with omitting stitches unless it was a cable; in that case I did cable and omitted next stitch afterwards. It looks ok, but, I did notice a few misses of continuation of pattern. Not sure what I did. The right sock is finished.
9/18/2012: I took the toe down to 24 stitches and then kitchener stitched it closed.
Note: Trying to figure out which direction to go with stitches after decreases were made and working chart a second time for the length needed for sole; was a bitch. I really struggled with this and it shows if you look closely at my socks.
