Started my Christmas Stocking for the 2010 Worldwide Stocking Swap. My partner is makeene.
9/16/10: I am on row 28 of the cuff. I have been relaxing my stitches, but, am now worried that I am carrying my stitches too tightly.
9/18/10: Finished cuff and the ‘secret’ part. I am now into the leg. After cuff was finished and I knitted into purl stitches to get going again, I missed the decrease stitches on round two. Round 2 is also the start of more colorwork. I didn’t think it would make that big of a difference, so I didn’t frog back. After finishing the ‘secret’ I realized that by not decreasing 8 stitches I might not have had enough yarn to complete the stocking. So, I added another knit row at the end of the secret and decreased there. Now that I am halfway through the leg, I realize that had I decreased in the beginning the secret flap would have laid down on its own. It will still work out after I block it.
9/19/10: I finished the heel flap and the heel turn. I discovered after getting the heel flap done that I had 2 stitches too many on the heel. I decreased them off and will work it back out on the gusset. The directions read that when decreasing the stitches, I needed to use the dark green to decrease with. I did this and noticed that to the left side of the heel, it gives me 4 dk green instead of 2 lt green and 2 dk green. I adjusted for the change in stripes and it doesn’t seem an obvious issue. I am through the gusset and have started the foot. I am anxious to get this finished. I like how it has come together. I wasn’t sure about the color scheme, but, love it now.
9/20/10: Finally have it done and am blocking it. Yay!
