I have revised this project status to a sad face because, as awesome as it is, it is too fragile. I think I needed to knit it at a much (MUCH) tighter gauge because as it is now, it gets picked constantly. My poor mother can only wear it once before it has to be repaired. And it’s not like she’s felling trees in it or anything. It’s a church cowl. Next time I get it back for repairs, I might see if I can find the ends so I can frog it and reknit. No one deserves a gift that makes them sad because it constantly gets damaged.

The last damage snapped the yarn so this has been frogged. Not sure if I will reknit because of fragility, but I definitely will apologize to my mom for giving her such a horrid gift. Too bad handknits don’t come with a receipt!

Used Lifeline provisional cast on. For the most part successfully.

My tension is so uneven. Ugh. Looks so nasty. Hopefully blocking will fix that.

Blocking is a miracle. (Second pic is unblocked for comparison.)

I like this pattern. Might have to make myself one!
