I had US1 needles handy so I tried to swatch with that… too big. So I’m going down to a US0 and just going for it (no swatch). Hopefully I won’t regret that.
Casting on for two-at-once and having issues. I think my brain isn’t working properly. Third time is the charm, though, thanks to some these videos: Part one and Part two.

The first few rounds are always a little confusing for me and two at once makes it slightly more so. But I’m a good 4 or 5 round into it and things are working well. I hope the sizing is right!

I have had concerns about the size of these since so many other Ravelers have gone up a needle size. Finally, I measured my hand - 7½“ circumference - so I’m going to do the ribbing in a US0 and the colorwork section in US1. (The cuffs are nicely snug but not stretched out when I try them on so I don’t think I need to redo them since I prefer things to be snugger - no sliding.)
…
And I’m glad I had decided to go up a needle size because my Web’s 0s just broke. I had intended to change after the increase round but looks like I’ll be doing it one round earlier. Sigh.

I’m attempting to use this method to catch the ends to prevent floats with the thought that it would also enable me to learn Continental knitting. Yeah, not working. I mean, the float catching thing is great, but I’m 13 rows into the chart and I can’t get the hang of it. I am having huge issues with tensioning with my left hand. (Ironic, since I crochet and hold my yarn in my left.) It’s making the whole thing rather frustrating and making me think negative thoughts about this project. PITA.

Things are getting easier with tensioning with my left hand and I’m not pulling the stitches so tights on the CC anymore. Yay! I’m going to have some stitches that I’ll need to pull a little tighter later. Apparently I have issues closing the “gap” between sides when colorwork is involved.
There is an error in the front charts for both the right and left glove in the B chart versions. Stitch one in Row 24 should be in CC, not MC.
Though, in the theme of everything seeming to go wrong with these mittens, I got the replacement US0 from Webs in the mail yesterday… broken. Sigh.

So, the knitting with both hands thing? Not gonna be my cuppa. Tension is better but still horribly tight and uneven. So on round 46, I decided to try holding both of the threads in my right hand and work them like that. SO MUCH EASIER! I think if I had been doing it that way from the beginning, I would not have so much frustration towards this project. Suddenly, in the course of one round, this became a fun knit. Hallelujah!

Finished the chart section! The colorwork is so much easier and more fun holding both colors in my right hand. SO. MUCH. BETTER. I no longer fear the impending alpaca hat project.
I added two rounds of CC and one round of MC at the top of the chart before the decrease and then went to the US0s for the ribbing.

Used Jeny's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-off for the first time - it’s great! Very stretchy!

All finished with the thumbs! Now I just need to sew in the ends and block them. I’m hoping the blocking will help even out the stitches some. The untwisting of the Baby Ull and the varying thickness of the Mini Mochi (and my difficulties with two handed knitting) has lead to a lot of uneven stitches!!
