Notes

17 Mar
Yeah, I thought I’d have enough yarn for his, but no way. Oh well. Maybe one day I will or I’ll buy more. Either way, I’m going to keep going.

Tried decreasing the CO to 32 since I’m using thicker yarn (and correspondingly larger needles) but the pre-felting size was shaping up to be closer to my desired post-felting size, so I went back to the direction’s 48 CO. (Probably one good reason I have no hope of having enough yarn.)

I’ll confess, I have no idea which side is WS and which RS. The directions (or my reading of them) is not clear enough. And when the pattern says to pick up sts along side 2D, I have no idea which one that was. Probably the wrong one based on where I think square 2’s C side is. Whatever.

Awesomely, I got a lot farther than I anticipated with the yarn I had. But I still had to go and buy a bit more yarn. I got 1 skein each of Tiburon (blue) and Sierra (tan) since those two and an orange are kind of the main colors.

New yarn is here! I was able to finish the 4th square tonight but the rest will have to wait until tomorrow. Then felting. Whee!

All finished! One cycle through the washer on the sanitize cycle and now it just has to dry. It looks cool!

It did turn inside out during felting but it had shaped itself so nicely, I just kept it that way.

It is perfectly sized to hold my stuff - plus a bit - and hopefully keep things from getting knocked off the shelf and into the trash! Success!
