Argh! I don’t have size 7 dpns, and certainly not a set of 5 of them (why are all of mine sets of 4?).

I also don’t have a size 7 circular needle. -_-

So straight needles it is.

10/15: Finished, and I’m not overly impressed with the way it turned out on the straights.

10/17: Went back fixed it. What confused me was that the nuts and bolts of the pattern (way down in the straights) didn’t mention to continue the 6-stitch panel, and I didn’t catch how the hat was going to fold at the reductions. Keep knittin’ and purlin’!

Frogging back and doing it again properly resulted in a much better go, although I was still confused as to how to slip-knit-psso when my slip was on a purl and my knit was a knit. Anyway, I bungled through.

I did a mattress seam on this (thanks, Ellen!), but having the extra stitch of garter didn’t do me many favors--it’s still a little messy at the base of the “star”.

Anyway, it’s great. I love it. Do it on dpns.
