I tweaked this pattern slightly to make it the right size for a 4/5 year old. I cast on 76 stitches, bound off the 12 as called for. Then I knitted 4inches of stockinette and started decreasing with knit 6, k2tog row and followed the rest of the pattern down. The button is a cute flower from Wal-Mart.

This was a super fast knit! Only took about 4 hours to do.

I also added ear flaps by picking up 14 stitches on either side. And a pom pom.
