I’ve had my eye on a simple cabled turtleneck teeshirt by Marc O’Polo for a few months. It looked like something I could like, and also like something I could easily knit myself. Still, I never got ‘round to actually buying some yarn, knitting a swatch and so on.
Then I knitted the Corona hoodie and loved the pattern. I immediatelly thought I could use it as a guideline for making the Marc O’Polo inspired sweater. Unfortunately the yarn I used isn’t always available, and I really had my heart set on it.
Finally, a couple of days before Christmas, I saw some of the same yarn in a super market and was happy to discover it was on sale. 5 skeins came out to a total price of 7,5 euros - not bad.
So I got the yarn and started knitting. I used the Corona pattern as a model for the waist decreases and bust increases, and also for the raglan decreases. I added a simple cable down the middle of the front, only knitted 7 rows of the k1p1 rib in the hem and sleeves (instead of the 5 inches in the pattern), left the hood out alltogether and changed the neckline into a simple boat neck. Ta-dah!
