september 25th:
Yay, it’s finished. It took about 2,5 skeins of yarn and the finished blocked shawl is 80 cm high and 160 cm wide.

The yarn was a really pretty green in the shop where I bought it, but bringing it out into the daylight and onto my needles has revealed it’s actually a very dull gray green :( The only reason I chose the yarn (apart from green always being a safe choise for me) was that the yarn was on sale, but now I wish I’d spent more and bought another yarn in a different colour. Green might be safe, just like brown, but some variation would be nice: every shawl I’ve ever knitted has been green or brown… well ok, there was a black one couple of years ago, but I’m not looking to knit more black things anyway.
Also, I’m about a third of the way through with the shawl, and today I remembered all the other way prettier patterns in my queue… This pattern is very very easy and at first it seemed like a nice change from some of the shawl patterns I’ve tried that have had me pulling out my hair, but by now it’s apparent that I actually enjoy the challenge and find things that are too repetitive boring.
But it’s not all that bad… I think this shawl will turn out to be a warm, practical one and I’m sure I will be happy I knitted it once it’s off the needles, all blocked and nice. At least all the other solid color projects made with this pattern are pretty :) Besides: maybe repetitive and easy is exactly what I need after the string of unsuccesful projects I’ve had recently. Right now I need the instant gratification more than anything.
