Overall

  • I have knit five weenie sweaters from this pattern with great success for fit
  • All of the dogs have been miniatures, I’ve knit size S four times and knit the M for one miniature who isn’t as miniature as the rest
  • I’ve used yarn combos of: fingering held together, DK straight, light worsted straight, and sock held together with US 5 and on my last DK weight version, I used a US6 for a little extra room for puppy to grow into her sweater with
  • I love this pattern because it is thorough, it can be knit from even if you don’t have dog measurements, the leg openings are ample and placed correctly and can be left open or ribbing added, the length is great to put motifs into, the rump rows make the sweater look great on the pups
  • It’s made in one fell swoop - turtleneck and leg hole ribbing require DPNs, otherwise everything is done on a 16” circular, you don’t have to pick up anything, you can knit the hem right after the body!
  • Overall - really one of the patterns I feel confident knitting a right-fitting garment for, as I’ve found dog sweater knitting is …mostly black magic lol
