This project was a major stash buster. I wanted to use up all the leftover yarn from my Ply and Order of the Garter cardigans.
The colorwork of this pattern is really modern and expressive. I changed the colors but kept all the stranded patterns.
The original pattern has short sleeves - I did my best to make the sleeves as long as possible and used the same colorwork pattern at the bottom of the sleeves that I used for the bottom of the body.
I added short rows after the fourth round of colorwork to make the back longer than the front while keeping all the increases intact.
After the fifth round of colorwork I devided the work into four parts: 65 sts (sleeve), 115 sts (front), 65 sts (sleeve), and 115 sts (front). All four parts were finished separately and knit straight, back and forth.
For the back - 6 increases on both sides in every second row + 2 sts on both sides = 131 sts total
For the front - 5 increases on both sides in every second row + 3 sts on both sides = 131 sts total
For a sleeve - 6 increases + 2 sts in every second row back side, 5 increases + 3 sts in every second row front side = 81 sts total
For back and front - 1 st increase before the last colorwork segment.
For sleeves - decreases in every 6th row till 60 sts before the last colorwork segment.
Tubular cast on and cast off.
I used needles in three different sizes: US 0 - 2.00 mm for ribbing, US 1 1/2 - 2.5 mm for plain stockinett st, and US 2 - 2.75 mm for colorwork parts. Remembering to change needles for different parts was probably the major challenge while making this sweater.
