I saw this bowl bag by Lauren Manoogian on Pinterest (last picture) and then found out its price. I didn’t crochet much for the last 30 years but decided to make one for myself just for fun. Used cotton yarn recycled from an old sweater with a stain that wouldn’t come out.
Totally winged it because I couldn’t find an exact pattern. Yet, as soon as the bag was finished, I found one, most likely much better than mine.
Worked on the bag mostly during Zoom meetings - hence its name.
Process:
ch - chain stitch
sc - single crochet stitch
st - stitch
Important: try not to place the new increases above the increases in the previous row. Start them from a different place every time so they won’t form a pattern on the bottom of the bag.
I didn’t do any chain st or slip st to connect two rows, just continued in the first stitch of the previous row to avoid a visible seam.

Make 4 ch, connect them with a slip st.
R1 make 8 sc into the circle
R2 make 2 sc in every st - 16 st
R3 make 2 sc in every second st - 24 st
R4 no increases
R5 make 2 sc in every third st - 32 st
R6 make 2 sc in every 4th st - 40 st
R7 make 2 sc in every 5th st - 48 st
R8 no increases
R9 make 2 sc in every 6th st - 56 st
R10 make 2 sc in every 7th st - 64 st
R11 make 2 sc in every 8th st - 72 st
R12 no increases
R13 make 2 sc in every 9th st - 80 st
R14 make 2 sc in every 10th st - 88 st
R15make 2 sc in every 11th st - 96 st
R16 no increases
R17 make 2 sc in every 12th st - 104 st
R18 make 2 sc in every 13th st - 112 st
R19 make 2 sc in every 14th st - 120 st
R20 no increases
R21 make 2 sc in every 15h st - 128 st
R22 make 2 sc in every 16th st - 136 st
R23 make 2 sc in every 17th st - 144 st
R24 no increases
R25 make 2 sc in every 18th st - 152 st
R26 make 2 sc in every 19th st - 160 st
R27 make 2 sc in every 20th st - 168 st
R28 no increases
R29 make 2 sc in every 21 st - 176 st
R30 make 2 sc in every 22 st - 186 st

I was separating the increases and by 30th row had 178 st. Made 4 rows straight and divided all stitches in 4 parts = approximately 42 st. Put a marker 42 st after the beginning of the row and 42 st before the beginning of the row.
In the next row crocheted till 5 st left before the marker, sc together 2 st, 4 sc, slip marker, 4 sc, sc together 2 st, repeat at the second marker.
4 rows straight.
Repeat the decreases before and after markers one more time. 170 st left.
Crochet straight till the bag is tall enough for your taste and needls.
To make handles:
Sc 85 st, make 30 ch st, skip 30 st, sc 55 st, make 30 ch st, skip 30 st. In the next row pick up sc in each st of the chain.
To finish:
Last row - reverse sc
Make a row of reverse sc around handle slits.
Hide the yarn ends.
