House (or NQFY / SoS): Gryffindor

OWL and option: Potions Option 1

Pattern page: Silver Stag Sweater

Description of Proposed Work:

For my Potions Option 1 proposal, I’m planning to knit the 157-23 Silver Stag in Large using Swish DK in the colors: Cobblestone Heather, Garnet Heather, and white. This sweater will use approximately 1100 yards in main color and around 100-200 yards of secondary colors. I’m planning to follow the pattern as written for my size but use the Garnet Heather for the zigzags at the top of the pattern, the snowflake below the deer pattern, and then the zigzags at the end of the sleeves.

Swatch photos to come
I was able to get gauge with the size US 6 needle the pattern calls for. I found that I love the colors even more once I swatched! I think this color combo is perfect!

Sequence & Points of Consideration: This pattern is knit from the top down. I’ll start with casting on the collar, then knit the yoke, put the sleeves on waste yarn, work the rest of the pattern and body. Then go back and finish the sleeves.

Sometimes I knit the sleeves before the body so that I’m not having to deal with the body while knitting the sleeve but for this one I think I’m going to stick to following the pattern.

Proposed 50% Mark: 50% of the sweater I believe will be the yoke through the pattern on the body and 2 inches. The sleeves at this point will still be waiting to be knit.

I feel this pattern fits the Potions OWL well. There is a nice blend of different colors and I LOVE deer!

Thank you for your consideration.
