After a long break, I finally finished!
I don’ recall exactly where I left off, but I think it was around Row 24 for the 7th iteration. I set it aside because it looked to be too big if I completed the 7th.
After much debate, I ripped it back to the 8th row of the 7th iteration, then began the edging. I had to rip back again to redo the cable laps becuase without them, it looked very awkward.
The shawl is narrow for me -- I could have afforded to finish the 7th iteration, but this will be a gift and I think this width is sufficient to fit most women.
Previous notes:
At 5 repeats (~350 yds), I thought I was going to have to frog. Adding 10 stitches to the bottom edging did not seem to work for me the bottom edging is doubling back -- it didn’t expand enough with the extra stitches to lay anything near flat. (In retrospect, I can see some puckering in other photos, too, but not as badly as mine.)
I decided to go for it since I was almost 70% finished.
Wasn’t impressed with this yarn until I started on this pattern. So soft and shiny and it does cables great!
I inadvertently reversed the 2-stitch cable in the midsection but didn’t think it was worth fixing.
However, about half way through the second iteration, I couldn’t stand the quirky thing on the cable second from the bottom and ripped out all the way back to Row 9 to fix it. I must be insane. But now it looks like a horseshoe cable. I am much happier now.
