Notes

My first double knitting project: testing out my own chart!

Will probably be used as some sort of place mat or decoration, since the acrylic might not be terribly safe for a potholder.

I have rated the pattern as ‘medium’ difficulty because it does not contain step-by-step instructions for double knitting, so you should probably have some familiarity with the technique before trying this pattern.

Notes:

  • 5 rows plain before and after working the chart; 4 sts plain (background) on each side.
  • I mistakenly omitted row 13 (or row 14, since they are the same). However, the other half of the design (top half of dark-on-light side) is correct.
  • If you don’t have a 3rd needle handy for the 3-needle bindoff, work on 2 needles as ssk, (ssk, pass previous stitch over) to end - this amounts to the same thing!
  • I cast off in light grey to make the piece more symmetrical - since the cast-on was also in grey.
