We blocked our shawl out a fair bit to open up the lace. As a result, our finished gauge stitch is 15 stitches per 4 inches.

To avoid opening up the stitches, run a blocking wire along the lace panel and focus on stretching only that section.

If you’d like it a bit smaller or tighter, try using a 3.5 mm needle.
