This simple baby blanket is the perfect choice if you’re a new knitter or if you would like an easy, relaxing knit.

Alternating stripes of stockinette and garter stitch with a garter border offers the interest of texture without being overly taxing.

We knit our blanket up in Berroco Vintage DK which is an easy-care blend of wool, alpaca, and nylon. It can go through the washing machine which makes it ideal for new parents (and there is enough wool in the blend to make it enjoyable for those who prefer working with wool). Because this is a lighter-DK we used a smaller needle and knit our blanket to a gauge of 20 sts instead of 18sts.
