Notes

Due to my gauge with the 6mm hook recommended for the yoke and the body/sleeves, I’m following the XS pattern/row counts for a S size. My gauge is 12sts and 6 rounds for 4”. Gauge was met for the collar with the recommended 5mm hook.

It might look planned, but it’s very scrappy. If anyone looks closely, they’ll see slightly different yarns used in each color stripe. I’m really trying to use all my little bits of yarn.

I thought I wouldn’t like the beginner look to the DC stitch, but I truly am loving it. And it’s working up pretty fast. If I weren’t fretting over what color to change to next, it would go much faster. Maybe the next sweater will be less planned, but I also want it to be something I’ll wear, so it can’t be too wacky looking.

The designer has generously provided a video which I refer to if any part of the pattern on the blog doesn’t quite make sense to me. Easy Top-Down Seamless Crochet Sweater for Beginners by MJ’s Off The Hook Designs

I started decreasing by 2dc every other round under the arms starting on R9.

Body’s last color, 1R DC, 1R SC
Bottom band used same color as last color in body (not the same as the neck band)

Measurements:
Collar: 20” long (84 rows before join)
Yoke: 7.25” tall from R1-12, worked to 176 stitches (not incl. collar)
Body: 13.25”
Band: 2” tall
Sleeves: 17” long including cuff; decrease every R starting with R10. PLAN: stop stripes after R 24 (not R 30) and 26 sts (not 20).
Final weight 16.99 oz / 482 grams

Instead of blocking with pins, I wet a washcloth and gently run it out. I then used that to press over the sweater to pat it into shape. I used this amazing mini class by CarrieSpinner.

I’m so happy with how this turned out especially after I “blocked” it. It looks so professional. Can’t wait to wear it.
