Thoughtfully written instructions, the sweater was a joy to knit and a labor of love.
Would like to share what I see going on with the construction - I think that bit of extra fabric at the sides are meant to form pleats, at least that’s what I noticed with my own cardi. The fabric folds inward at the sides. My sweater does have a nuanced hourglass shape like many other garments that I wear. Concur with a few comments regarding drape, I formed large sweeping arcs following the natural curve of the hem on the blocking mat. I think this might have helped. Also, did not reduce needle size for the ribbed hem in efforts to prevent the rest of the body from “poofing” outward, but in retrospect probably not at all necessary. The only alteration I made was adjusting the sleeve length. I particularly like how the longer front panels emphasize the braids/cables.
The colorway I chose turned out to be more variegated than I would have liked. Skeins were alternated throughout however (with exception to the sleeves which I probably should have done).
I might not recommend this pattern for a beginner, but some of the techniques and finishing details used here might definitely tempt someone looking to increase their skills.
So happy with the pattern, would love to knit a second one. I tend to say that though whenever I wish to repeat the ride. Must knit faster! ![ blush](https://style-cdn.ravelrycache.com/images/twemoji/1f60a.png)

eta: As it turns out, I was truly annoyed with the variegated color. Over dyed this sweater a few days ago and now exceedingly happy. Would describe the color as a Turkish Plum with more purple than blue, very dark almost black.
