This pattern is truly incredible. Such a beautiful creation by Asa
I’m glad I came back to it after sending the first color straight to the frog pond. About a dozen new shinies came along before starting over and my second one was not without its own problems, unfortunately.
The yarn I used this time was probably not the best choice, though it is indeed a gorgeous soft silky fiber and beautifully dyed as well. This is the 8 ply mulberry silk, and frankly have never encountered a fiber that wants to separate as much as this one. Coupled with the fact that it will snag on just about anything, you really do need to be extra careful! There was some damage control when I reached the border as one of the plies in the stockinette body caught on my iPad cover and managed to pull away a good length. But I would still use this yarn again .
I should mention that I aimed for thirteen lace repeats which corresponds in the chart to 243 body stitches. I wanted the smaller sized stockinette body in proportion to the lace and also did not want to play yarn chicken towards the end. I have 15 repeats of the fan sections and one less of the diamonds -- needless to say I am completely confused!
The pattern itself requires a fair amount of focus as well and I became anxious to finish, but the result is stunning and so very worth it!
Asa is genius! I want one in every color.
