Modifications:
- Tubular cast on + cast off
- Lengthened sleeves to full length
- No pleats for the sleeves
- Added an inch to the yoke before pleating for better fit
It’s hard to visualise how the pleats are supposed to work, but I was pleased with the end result! The trick for me was working with an extra circular to slip the stitches and form the Z shape required to knit all 3 rows together.

Cast on! Did a quick gauge and it matches perfectly, longest provisional caston in the world and we’re off. Have read the instructions for the pleats 3-4 times and still have no idea what I’m supposed to do. Lets tackle that hurdle when we get to it…

Need to get some shorter cables I think…! Have reread the instructions for the pouch a few times, I think I know what needs to be done…

Have joined up at the body and now on the long slog. Tried to knit continental style for a while to see if I could get the hang of it, but not quite with it yet… On row 28 of 68. Still no idea how I’m going to MacGyver the folds without DPNs!

Gah, got my head around the pleats, working on the sleeves that will never end and tried it on. TOO SMALL around the shoulders…!
I’ve undone the collar for the time being, think my hack at the moment is to add some more length and smaller pleats… going to have to pull out my inner MacGyver for this one.

Finally finished the sleeves, added an inch to the yoke before trying to pleats again. SUCCESS!! In the end I only really had 2-3 days more knitting in it but was so demoralised by the wrong fit it took me 10 months before I could pick it back up again.
Nothing but praise for this beautiful beautiful yarn, just have to weave in a few ends and block.
