Sock fever! Once you start… One at a time, top down, nothing too fancy until I get my head around the cables. Easy knit once you get your head around the cables, love the detail of mirroring the crossovers per sock (but hated actually doing it lol).
Memories of Japan with my first skein of Madelinetosh, gorgeous colourway but the thickness of the strand varies so much! Not really the best choice for cables, the manipulations needed makes the wool halo like no tomorrow. Wouldn’t use this yarn again!
MODS: Followed instructions as written, 3 full repeats of the pattern on the foot. If I did these again I would pick a solid yarn, the variated is a bit busy, go TAAT and sub in FLKH.
May 26: Apparently I haven’t tried to cable since 2009… Trying to do this without a cable needle, slow going but getting the hang of it now.
Decided to stick with the medium size for now, strangely enough going top down the gauge seems much tighter, or maybe it’s just because of the cables?
May 29: Slow… onto repeat 3 of the first cuff… 2 more to go… May have bought more yarn for a different project lol.
May 31: Not going to lie, traditional heel flat + gusset is a massive pain! I appreciate how it looks but think I’ll be subbing in FLKH whenever I can, it just seems to work up so much quicker.
June 1: 1 sock down! Cast on the second immediately, going much faster now that I’ve got the hang of the cables.
June 5: Cables take forever………….. Onto the second heel now.
June 8: Closing off the 2nd toe now! Hopefully this attempt at Kitchener goes off better than the last. Officially tired of cables now, going to make myself a little top or something next.
