Notes

With ANZAC Day 2020 commemorations being without the usual gatherings due to the covid-19 pandemic there has been a move for Australians to do their own commemoration at the entry of their driveways, their letterboxes, and in keeping with the “stay at home” messages, at home. Many are putting poppies they have made on display as a part of the commemorations.
This is my attempt, using only items I had at home already. 3 red and 1 green plastic charity “rag bags” (delivered to my letterbox and not used) and 1 black plastic garbage bag. These were cut into strips and looped together to make plarn (plastic yarn). For the base I used an old wire coat hanger which I covered with jute twine. All sewn on with scraps of black or green acrylic yarn from stash and a black ribbon (also stash) tied on.
The poppies are quite stiff and hold their shape in all weather. And quickly washable if they get dirty.
Added to my 5 plastic poppies on stems (recycled green covered florist wire from a bunch of flowers and an old green plastic coated coat hanger).
