I’m going to combine a number of things together from existing patterns and a bit of improvisation to decorate my electric trike for Christmas. It has baskets at the front and rear which are usually decorated with knitted and crocheted flowers.
So I’ll have Christmas trees, Santa, stars and more. And I want bright colours!
First up, a quick and cute Christmas tree. I’ve only made it to the 30 stitch size before reducing again.
I have some plastic beads left from another project. They might be slightly large but I’ll use them anyway. I’m after a bold and bright look to be seen from a slight distance.
My bell variation is based mostly on Amanda Berry’s pattern with inspiration from Sarah Gasson’s Bell.
The Bell variation
Cast on 32 stitches and knit in the round
Knit 4 rounds
Purl the next round
Knit 3 rounds
Next round, folding bottom 4 rows from the purl row down to the inside knit round catching in a loop from the cast on round (or sew up later). This gives a double thickness band on the bottom to hold the shape of the bottom of the bell. (32 stitches)
Next round (Knit 4, Knit 2 together) repeat to end (24 stitches)
Knit 9 rounds
Next round (Knit 2 together, knit 4) repeat to end (20 stitches)
Next round (Knit 3, knit 2 together) repeat to end (15 stitches)
Knit round
Last round Knit 2 together to end.
Break of yarn, thread through stitches loops and draw closed. Fasten off.
I attached a bead to a crocheted a chain for the bell clapper.

So far I have 3 Christmas trees, 2 pairs of bells, 1 Santa and about 8 stars. Elves next?
