Wedding gift for two lovely friends. I designed this afghan as my project for the #fringeandfriendslogalong. It’s called Next in Line, because each log has a few lines/rows of the main color of the next log. Finished size: 52 x 60 inches.
I used three colors of Cascade 220 (Silver Grey, Straw, and Doeskin Heather) and one color of Valley Yarns Northampton (Lake Heather).
Finished (Blocked) Measurements
Throw: 43 inches/110 cm by 56 inches/143 cm
Afghan: 52 inches/133 cm by 60 inches/153 cm
Yarn
--Color 1: Cascade 220 100% wool; 220yd/201m per 100 gr skein, #8401 Silver Grey, 5 skeins (throw), 7 skeins (afghan)
--Color 2: Cascade 220 100% wool; 220yd/201m per 100 gr skein, #4010 Straw, 2 skeins (throw), 3 skeins (afghan)
--Color 3: Cascade 220 100% wool; 220yd/201m per 100 gr skein, #8012 Doeskin Heather, 2 skeins (throw), 3 skeins (afghan)
--Color 4: Valley Yarns Northampton 100% wool; 247yd/226m per 100 gr skein, #42 Lake Heather, 2 skeins (throw), 3 skeins (afghan)
If you are substituting yarns, you’ll need the following approximate amounts of worsted weight wool:
--Color 1: 1,000yd/915m (throw), 1,450yd/1,325m (afghan)
--Color 2: 440yd/400m (throw), 660yd/600m (afghan)
--Color 3: 440yd/400m (throw), 660yd/600m (afghan)
--Color 4: 490yd/445m (throw), 675 yd/615m (afghan)
Needles
US #7/4.5mm 24-inch or 32-inch circular needle OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE.
The piece is worked back and forth in rows, using a long circular needle to accommodate the large number of sts. You may wish to use interchangeable needle tips and successively longer cords as the piece grows.
Gauge: 18 sts/36 rows = 4”/10 cm in garter stitch, after blocking
Note: If your gauge differs from the pattern gauge, the dimensions of your finished piece may be different as well. If you knit at a looser gauge, you may need more yarn.

7/4/18: Bound off last log. It’s finished!
6/3018: Bound off Log No. 18. Piece measures 49 inches x 60 inches. Started the final log!
5/25/18: Just three more rows to knit on Log No. 16. The piece now measures 43 inches/110 cm x 56 inches/142 cm. This would be a great place to stop for a medium-sized throw. (I’ll note that in the pattern.) However, I want this to be a big, cozy blanket, so I am knitting three more logs. There will be 19 logs in all.
4/26/18: Finished Log No. 14. The piece now measures 45 x 39 inches.
3/13/18: Began Log No. 13. The piece now measures about 39 x 32 inches.
2/21/18: I’ve finished 10 logs and the throw measures 33 x 27 inches.
