I had been given this little pair of Easter Dungarees as an Easter basket from Kenley last year. I decided a bunny needed to be inside the dungarees.
I needed to adjust this pattern a lot in order for the bunny to fit inside these dungarees. For example, the legs had to be very short, the belly not to big, the body only as long as the suspenders would fit, and the head and ears to be proportionate.
Legs: knit thru round 12.
Arms: As written.
Body: I did no increases when I first joined the legs together. K 12 rounds even. Then I decreased gradually along with the narrowing of the dungarees. I knit the belly even until I did 4 decrease rounds before attaching the arms. Knit the shoulders and neck as written.
Head: knit as written except I did an increase on either side of the middle 2 stitches on the 6th even row after increases. (I wanted the top of the nose to be a little more pronounced.)
Ears: I liked the ears from the “Zoe Bunny” pattern better than this one so I used those ears instead. I had to adjust this pattern as well due to the chunky yarn. Cast on 3, followed pattern to total of 9 stitches. Knit 9 rows even then started decreases: 1st decrease set done 2 times. Next row; ssk, K1, K2tog. Next row; P3tog. Break off yarn. I knit the inside of the ears with some scrap worsted weight pink yarn (instead of chunky like the rest of the bunny) because I wanted the white outer ear to encase the pink inner ear a bit.
I love my finished bunny and he fits inside his dungarees perfectly!
