My mom gifted me this yarn & pattern. She said she bought it to knit for herself but never got to it. I took it as a hint & am knitting it for her. Making the medium after reading everyone’s notes about how very large the larger sizes are. And happy I did… the medium is large, especially the sleeves.

Mods:

Left stitches at shoulders live on the needles & attached them together using a three needle bind off.

Left the neck stitches live & just picked them up when I did the front band.

Crochet the seams together…. a whole lot quicker & sturdier than mattress seam. And this matched the three needle bind off seams better.

Left the bottom garter section sides open for extra detail.

Front band… picked up 105 stitches on each side plus the neck stitches. I only did 5 inches of garter & added button holes at the 2.5 inch mark.

The sleeves are extremely wide. If I were to remake this I would reduce the stitch count from 90 to 60.

Just need to find buttons.

Didn’t like the way the front bands came together with the button holes & buttons. So I sewed the holes shut & added crochet button loops. Happier with it now.

Now to hide it until Christmas.
