I’ve gone up to size I hook to make what I hope will be XL.
Stitch definitions missing from pattern. I’m not sure what the designer intended, but this is what I’ve done.
-
Cluster (from another pattern from same designer) *Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over pull through stitch. Yarn over through two stitches.* Repeat from * to * until there are 4 loops on the hook. Yarn over and pull through all 4 loops.
-
Treble 5 Together (tr5tog) A tr5tog is working 5 trebles together. Firstly yarn over your hook, insert through stitch, yarn over your hook, pull back through stitch. There should now be 3 loops on your hook. Then yarn over hook and pull through the first two loops. Now *yarn over your hook, insert through stitch, yarn over your hook, pull back through stitch. Then yarn over hook and pull through the first two loops.* Repeat ** 3 more times. You should now have 6 loops on your hook. Now yarn over your hook and pull through all 6 loops. This completes your tr5tog.

DbTr (dtr) double treble (triple) crochet Yarn over hook three times, then insert hook into next stitch. Yarn over hook and draw yarn through stitch - five loops on the hook. Loop yarn over hook and draw through two loops, (there are now four loops remaining on the hook), *yarn over hook and draw through two loops**, repeat * to ** twice more.

So far, I’ve discovered three missing stitch definitions, and I’ve only completed 7 rows!

Made armholes as designed, but they seemed a mite small. Ripping back to try 42 stitch chain (14 repeats) for armholes. That will add almost an inch to the circumference of each armholes.

I’m starting to realize that there is a fundamental problem with this pattern. Over half of the rows have the same number of stitches, which means that starting shortly before the armholes, the shape becomes a tube. I’m not sure this is ultimately going to fit over the chest attractively. I’ll go forward but may have to make mods.

Finished the crochet using pattern as written. I’m still not sure whether the intended owner will love it or hate it. Nothing about this project is “me”… Not my colors, not my shape, but it’s “done”. I’ll let the intended try it on and decide if the yarn needs to be something else!

The intended owner tried it on and LOVED it. She hated giving it back so I can weave in the ends and trim off the various yarn ends that remained. Washing and blocking.
Still waiting for a button, but the owner loves it enough to wear it and anyway!
