1/2/11 - It took me about three “loops” before I realized that using a provisional cast-on for the i-cord makes it MUCH easier (and nicer looking) when the loop is made. It’s a bit fiddly, but the result is worth it.
1/9/2011 - finished the loops at the end. I made 26 loops instead of the stated 15 to make a bigger throw.
1/14/2011 - 8 hours of knitting done. I’m up to row 14 of the first repeat of the body pattern. Each row is 26*12=312 stitches (give or take a couple based on increases and decreases). Am I slow or not? I don’t know!
1/17/2011 - Time for the next skein. 5 rows later… I found that the yarn was cut in the middle of a huge yarn barf. It took me awhile, but I’ve got it sorted out. Now finished with the second repeat of the main pattern.
2/4/2011 - Due to the snows, I’ve been able to knit on this quite a bit. I’ve now used about 3.5 skeins and am about 1/4 of the way to the size that I want it to be. Four repeats are done. I fear that I might not be able to make it as large as I’d like due to not having enough yarn. I’ll check with Webs to see if I can get a few more skeins.
2/5/2011 - I am so proud of myself! I noticed that i had miscrossed a cable, so I dropped the stitches of one side of the cable back three rows, corrected the cross and picked them up again. I feel so bad-ass!
8/10/2013 - I’ve worked on this off and on over 2.5 years. It’s hard to work on it when it’s hot, which in Texas is quite a bit of the year!
21 repeats of cable pattern.
I had enough yarn that I could have done one more repeat, but I way over-estimated how much yarn would be needed for the finished edge. (It used less than 30g.). I’m good with the size though.
9/5/2013 - Received notification! My blanket received a First Place ribbon in the Small Knit Afghan category at the 2013 State Fair of Texas!
