29 Feb 2012 - really really am excited. Haven’t knitted myself something years. I have looked ahead and I don’t know how the casting on works for the sleeves. No prob. youtube rocks.
26 April 2012 - I have been working at this cardi slowly. It was still quite warm up until a week ago so I have been doing sewing projects but now it is freezing, Autumn has arrived. I am now up to the first sleeve. I ran out of wool and had to order another ball which meant the next dye lot. It looks pretty close so I am hoping it won’t be noticeable. I have noticed that my yoke is smaller than the pattern’s picture but I guess it is because I am using smaller needles due to not having the correct ones. This cardi will be my first adult-sized garment that I have completed in about 15 years, my 2nd in total! I have another garment that is 85% finished but I lost interest in it years ago.
I have also realised that I have not been doing M1 properly. I know the proper way now and have found a tutorial on doing invisible increasing which I will use next time (as I already did the increasing on this one by the time I found the tutorial).
19/5/12 - done! It’s too small especially around the arms and the yoke motif looks bad due to using such small needles. I will try again. I think there is a typo in the finishing. I did the buttonholes on the opposite side to what is written but in line with the photo supplied. Perhaps it isn’t a typo but the way I pick up stitches! There is a typo though with the button size- watch out, the metric conversion is wrong.
