I made it bigger for a little kid rather than a baby because I expect they will, like most new parents these days, prefer to avoid blankets for sleeping the first year or so.

I used the blossom crochet YouTube video for the moss stitch squares. Did join as you go, removing the hook and putting it through the stitch on the other side to connect them. Corners too. Was very careful to not pull the slip stitches tight, it looks better and is still plenty secure.

Each square was worked until I had all the colors in each colorway. For me that ended up being 16 rounds, joining in the 17th.

Border is more moss stitch, turning it after every row to keep it square. Had to go down a hook size - it still ruffled a little bit but I didn’t want to redo the border again. The speckle yarn really worked well.
