I swore this yarn was cursed. (Not through any fault of its own, mind you. Its a perfectly wonderful yarn, its the knitter who has the problem, here.) No matter what pattern I tried casting on with this yarn, I ran in to some type of mishap…
I think I finally found a winner with this shawl pattern. The pattern is clearly written and easy to follow. Its my first attempt at lace knitting and I am eager to see it take shape :)
I made it through 2 complete pattern repeats last night (3/5/15) Looking forward to chugging through more of this today.
Finished 2 more repeats, but this I may have made an error or two on my center stitch a few rows back. ugh! Don’t feel like frogging back, so it will just have to be a design element.
Decided to add more repeats than the pattern calls for to use up more of this beautiful skein. Finished one extra repeat before bed. Although I think I’ll do one more before starting the border.
3/15/15-- I’ve still got a good bit of yarn left so I decided to do another repeat (this will make 3 additional ones) before starting the border. I started the border and think I will be fine with the amount of yarn I have left. There may even be enough left to make some tassels for the ends!
3/26/15-- Yikes! Talk about a cursed yarn/ project! I thought I could squeeze 1 additional repeat of the border out of the amount of yarn I had left, but apparently, I was wrong. Instead of 5 rows of border, I attempted 6 and ran out of yarn about 40 stitches away from the end of my bind-off. So frustrating! I was using Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy bind off and knew that it uses up a good bit of yarn. Decided to tink back to the beginning of the row and try a lacey bind off. For this too, I did not leave myself enough yarn. I ended up about 25 stitches too short of finishing. I finally bit the bullet and tinked back 2 rows leaving myself enough yarn to bind off using JSSBO. Whew!
