1/22/17-- My first project of 2017! I’m hopeful that this highly variegated yarn works well with the pattern. The yarn itself is 50% alpaca, 30% merino, 10% silk, and 10% nylon so it should make so the perfect, luxurious sock yarn.
1/30/17-- I’ve been working on this sporadically over the past week and have decided to try a new heel technique- the afterthought heel. I used this tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Wvvc1AfgpU to set it up. Preparing to knit 3.5 inches from waste yarn and then start the toe.
2/11/17-- Decided I didn’t like how these were knitting up and ended up frogging the whole thing. I have a tendency to suffer from 2nd sock syndrome and have been wanting to try 2-at-a-time magic loops socks so I ordered circs from Amazon and watched a ton of videos before casting on.
Here’s are the videos I used to help me-

2/12/17 So far I have found that the pattern is a little more vague than I would have liked since this is my first time doing magic loop and 2-at-a-time. I was able to finish the toe sections (19 rows) this morning and am starting the foot section. I am happy with how much quicker this is going as opposed to doing 1 at a time.
2/15/17-- Been plugging away at these for the past few days and was a little confused with how long to knit the foot. Posted to Reddit, here: https://www.reddit.com/r/knitting/comments/5tubpq/questio... and got a very helpful answer. Knit foot until it was 6 inches long and then knit my afterthought heel row. (Row 44). I think I am going to use some Knitpicks Stroll yarn that I had left over from Mom’s Mustard socks to do the heel and cuff.
3/22/17-- Its been awhile since I’ve posted an update, and lots has been happening. With Joe in the hospital, really the only time I have had to work on these was while I was visiting him. I wasn’t sure I would have enough of the leftover yarn from Mom’s Mustard socks to do both the heels and the cuffs so I took a break from knitting the leg and did both afterthough heels. I have plenty of yarn leftover for the cuffs. (yay!) I’m not sure if I like the fit/feel of the afterthought heel style, but will reserve my judgement for after blocking and wearing.
6/20/17-- Oh boy, what a few months it has been. With school and travel for work, these puppies didn’t get much work done on them. With about a month long break in school, I decided to pick them up again. Worked 153 rows and decided to start the cuff. Did 12 rows of 2x2 ribbing for the cuff and used JSSBO for the bind off.
