Using a 4.25 mm or a G hook and a single strand of Bernat Baby Sport Wool

Chain 8 to start I did 72 rows of ribbing in single crochet not half double crochet I single crocheted to join the 2 ends of the ribbing I did not have to increase to make my 72 single crochet around the hat . That size fits me.

Round 2 I followed the pattern only I used a single crochet instead of a double crochet. I did 2 rows of single crochet to replace 1 row of double crochet so my next row would be Round 2A I single crocheted around this row I single crocheted in the chain one holes (gaps)

Round 3 followed the pattern but did 2 rows single crochet instead of the double crochet then went on to Round 4 remember I did 2 rows of single crochet to replace 1 row of double crochet. I only made the holes where I needed them to be able to make the pattern. The pattern consists of 5 chain 1 spaces I only made the chain 1 spaces or (holes, gaps) where I need them to make the pattern. See my picture I have crochet hooks pointing to the holes.

Row 5 same as pattern Row 6 I did 72 single crochet around.

After I completed the extreme drop stitch in the white wool I did 2 rows of single crochet with 72 stitches in each row. Then I started to decrease. See my light blue hat notes for how I decreased.

I made this hat to fit me. I moved the extreme drop stitch to between each other and not on top of each other.
