7.23.13
After finishing the larger bag I decided to cast on right away for a few smaller bags---for produce. I’m casting on via this method. I’ll update with my mods as I do them.

I used a size 6 needle for the base and kept going until I reached 60 stitches total. Then I switched to size 8 needles and swapped the lace pattern to be YO THEN K2tog. Since I’m doing the magic loop method, it’s easier to do the yarn over first so it gets set before moving to the other side.
7.29.13
Did about 17 rounds of the lace repeat.
Opted to do an i-cord bind off along the top. I did so until I reached the one side, then passed over five stitches (placing them on scrap yarn) and continued on until there were four stitches left. I picked up one stitch from the beginning then started a 5 stitch i-cord. I’m hoping to graft/attach it to the other stitches (I think this pattern does something similar. Though I haven’t read it fully or thought that far ahead.) I’m just hoping it will work. It probably won’t be the neatest finish but this newbie knitter is winging it.

Finished the blue one yesterday and the i-cord didn’t quite work out like I planned. It’s more utilitarian than pretty anyway.
I quick cast on another, in red, this time with only 44 stitches. I hope to make three or more of these to hold the different varieties of garlic we grew.

Red one is done. Now casting on a green one.

Green one is done.
