Shame man. I was talking to Pookie on Gtalk and she seemed so sad that somehow I offered to make her a jersey. I don’t mind though…this seems like an interesting pattern and perfect for her. Hopefully Mum will go halvsies with me on the wool because she has expensive tastes, my sister :P
06 July - Got all the stuff together a few days ago, but have been too sick to start until now. Even so I have to give it a rest every 10 mins or so because the constant motion jump-starts my nausea but it’s worth it because I am 100% over lying in bed and moaning softly to myself while watching parks and rec. Also because the wool she eventually decided on is from Adele’s mohair place and is an absolute joy to handle. Pics tomorrow, because Gary is currently out on the town with yon camera phone.
12 July - Nearly finished the raglan increases :) I must say I much prefer a bottom-up raglan construction since you get to decrease for the yoke instead of increasing, but I’m sure I’ll be pleased once it’s done.
18 July - Can’t believe how fast this went. Then again I have had a lot of spare time lately :/ Finished the body just now, and after some measurements from the pooklet and an intense mathsing session with Panda I have surmised the following:
-PUAK 5 extra stitches from the armpit.
-Knit 4 rounds
Decrease 4 st every 22 rounds over 66 rows (ie. 3 times), so will be removing 12st (6cm) before the elbow, then I think I might knit straight from there or do one or two more decreases. Unfortunately that the pooks is not actually physically present for armular measuring, so I just have to hope this works.
20 July - First sleeve nearly done! After the third decrease round, knit straight until sleeve measures 30cm from armpit, then do one more decrease round and knit straight until sleeve measures 37cm, then do garter st cuff.
Unfortunately for the decreases I did a SSK immediately followed by a K2tog which looks a bit icky but I didn’t notice until I was halfway down. I’m hoping it will improve with blocking but also I must remember to put some stitches in between them in future. Sigh…at least I know now.
24 July - Thanks god for the HPKCHC, or I would be suffering major second-sleeve syndrome by now. Got past the last decrease last night while watching Venture Bros and now I only have 8cm of stocking stitch to go. SOOOO BOOORING. Ah well, I have the day off and 3 more episodes should do it. Go team Venture!
Later that day…
It is done! Well, the knitting part is done at least. Kind of terrified of blocking it but after seeing what happened with mum’s cowl I know it must definitely be done. Found a good article about blocking which says to stuff the sleeves with rolled-up newspaper covered in clingwrap, so definitely trying that.
Yaysies :)
