So, I really should have written more notes while I was making this, but I am dumb. So if the pattern is unclear and you have any questions please feel free to message me either on here or on reddit (burningpopsicles) or by email (burningpopsicles@gmail.com) I have included pictures which should help if you get stuck
Note on stuffing: Stuff each pierce as you make it, before fastening off. I used normal stuffing for the feet and head, and beans for the body to make it heavier so it doesn’t topple over from the weight of the head.
FEET (make 2)
Big Toe: (make 2):
- 6sc in magic loop
- 2sc in each stitch around (12st)
- 1sc, 2sc in next stitch, repeat around (18st)
- Sc 3 rounds
Little Toe: (make 4):
- 6sc in magic loop
- 2sc in each stitch around (12st)
- Sc 2 rounds
Join toes together across 4 stitches (join, 2sc, sl st)
Crochet completely around toes, being sure to crochet into stitches between toes. I had 36 stitches at this point.
Feet Decreases:
Crochet around for as many rounds as you want before decreasing the feet. I think I did about 8-9 rounds. Now is the part that is kinda hard to describe and I wish I had notes but I don’t, alas
Measure out 12 stitches on the outer edge of the big toe, and put a stitch-marker on either side. It helped me to squash the foot flat to figure out where to mark the stitches. I think these were the decreases I used across those 12 stitches:
- Sc to first marker, 2sc, sc2tog 4 times, 2sc, finish round (8st remain between markers, 32st total)
- Sc to first marker, sc2tog, 4sc, sc2tog, finish round (6st remain between markers, 30st total)
I THINK that’s how I did it, feel free to experiment :)
Crochet around for as many rounds as you want before decreasing the heels. I did 9 rounds.
Heel decreases:
- (3sc, sc2tog), repeat around (24st)
- (2sc, sc2tog), repeat around (18st)
- (1sc, sc2tog), repeat around (12st)
- Sc2tog around (6st) Fasten Off
BODY
In brown:
- 6sc in magic loop
- 2sc in each stitch around (12st)
- (1sc, 2sc in next stitch), repeat around (18st)
- (2sc, 2sc in next stitch), repeat around (24st)
- (3sc, 2sc in next stitch), repeat around (30st)
- (4sc, 2sc in next stitch), repeat around (36st)
- (5sc, 2sc in next stitch), repeat around (42st)
Crochet around for as many rounds as you want before changing to dark green. I did 9-10 rounds.
Change to green, then crochet around for as many rounds as you want before starting decreases. I did 16 or so. Remember that his mouth-part will cover the top of the body, so make it a little taller than you think you need. I did the head before finishing off the body so that I could get the proportions right.
Body decreases:
- (5sc, sc2tog), repeat around (36st)
- (4sc, sc2tog), repeat around (30st)
- (3sc, sc2tog), repeat around (24st)
- (2sc, sc2tog), repeat around (18st)
- (1sc, sc2tog), repeat around (12st)
- Sc2tog around (6st) Fasten Off
HEAD
For the head, I used this great pattern. I did 13 increase rounds in total, but I guess it depends how tight you crochet. Remember that the head will get bigger when you stuff it, so you don’t have to make it as wide as his feet. I crocheted about 2/3 of a cube before starting the decreases.
MOUTH CYLINDER
- 6sc in magic loop
- 2sc in each stitch around (12st)
- (1sc, 2sc in next stitch), repeat around (18st)
- (2sc, 2sc in next stitch), repeat around (24st)
- (3sc, 2sc in next stitch), repeat around (30st)
Crochet around until the cylinder is long enough to fit along the bottom of the face. This will also depend on how tight you stuff, so keep that in mind
Mouth decreases:
- (3sc, sc2tog), repeat around (24st)
- (2sc, sc2tog), repeat around (18st)
- (1sc, sc2tog), repeat around (12st)
- Sc2tog around (6st) Fasten Off
I sewed the cylinder to the bottom of the face before I made the indentation for his mouth, but if I were to make him again I might do it first before sewing it on. I’m not exactly sure which method would work better
Either way, run a long thread of yarn in and out of the stitches around the middle of the mouth and pull as tight as you want. You can also skip this step if you want him to have a more cylindrical mouth.
MOUTH AND EYES
Mouth: (worked flat, turn at end of each row)
-Ch3, sc in last chain from hook
- Sc (1st)
- 2sc in each st (4st)
- 4sc
- 2sc in first st, 2sc, 2sc in last st (6st)
- 6sc
- 2sc in first st, 4sc, 2sc in last st (8st)
- 8sc
- 2sc in first st, 6sc, 2sc in last st (10st)
- 10sc
Keep going in pattern until you have a piece big enough to stretch from his ‘nose’ to the bottom of his mouth. I secured it with a big stitch from the botom to the top to maintain the dent in the middle. I then stitched along the edges of the mouth to make it look like it came from underneath instead of on top, but you can skip this step too.
Eyes:
(In white)
- Dc 12 in magic loop
- (1sc, 2sc in next stitch), repeat around (18st)
(In black)
- Sc 9 stitches around half of eye
