10/26/12: It took me a while to get the gauge on this project. Admittedly this is something I rarely do. GASP! Bad knitter! I know I know. But, I figured that this is a somewhat expensive project and I better make sure I get it “right” so I took some time to figure out my gauge. At first I tried a US9 and had 4 stitches too many, so I went to a US10…still too many. Then it hit me…I’m a “thrower” so my tension is probably tighter than a Continental knitter and I simply loosened my tension on a US9. BINGO! Perfect gauge. Er, at least I hope so. I CO for this around 10:30pm and within an hour or so I have the yoke finished. I can see this will be a pretty quick project. So excited to see the finished results!!!
10/28/12: This pattern is excellently written which makes it easy to work! I am already working the body and am not far from working the decreases. LOVE LOVE LOVE the combination of Heichi & Silk Cloud!
10/29/12: 2213hrs: I am now on the decrease rounds! This project moves fast! If this wasn’t so expensive to make, I’d make one of these for everyone I know! LOL, so, maybe I’ll make another for MEEEE in another color combo! :D
10/30/12: I didn’t get to knit very much today, however, I have one more decrease round to go before knitting the rest of the length. I would highly recommend this pattern! It would also be fairly easy to customize should one desire a more negative ease in the fit or a different length for the sleeves. I wound more yarn for it today…the second skein of Silk Cloud and the fifth skein of Heichi.
10/31/12: Not much going on here for Halloween so I, of course, spent the evening stitching! I finished the decrease rounds and am now about 7 rounds from the increase rounds (hips). I’m really thinking about doing another one of these in Canal and Suit…maybe a birthday gift for myself? LOL
11/02/12: Almost done with the increase rounds and close to the ribbing at the bottom hem! With minimal interruptions I should be done with my sweater by next week.
11/07/12: BO on the body of the sweater! Now to work the sleeves. Tried it on and it fits! Slightly larger/longer though than I would like, but not enough of a difference to not love it!
11/20/12: So…I kinda lost my knitting mojo for a couple of weeks and I’m not exactly sure why. But I kicked myself in the rear to get a move on this project! I want to wear it for our Thanksgiving dinner at my parents house and thankfully (pun might be intended) we are celebrating on Friday instead of Thursday. Today I finished the second sleeve and I am now adding the ribbing to the neckline. Yarn usage update: I’ve hardly touched the third skein of Silk Cloud and will use every last bit of the Heichi once the neckline is done. I think I made the ribbing along the bottom edge a bit longer than originally called for in the pattern which accounts for some of the Heichi usage.
11/21/12: FINISHED! Late last night I ended up BO the neckline with the butt-end of a pair of tweezers…long story. Today I sewed in all my loose ends and tried it on. It fits! YAAAY! I haven’t blocked it and I probably won’t…doesn’t seem to need it. So happy…my first knitted sweater!
