• 01/04/12: CO for this hat last night. I absolutely LOVE the yarn…you can’t go wrong with Artyarns. Started the smocking portion this evening. I knit the brim to 3” and left out the first 3 rows of the smocking portion (as it was just additional ribbing) and picked up from row 4. This is my first project using smocking stitch and I’m happy with it so far.
• 01/05/12: Completed this lovely hat with little problems. There is just one part where I perceived a minor error: In the second section of decreases the pattern reads “k1, p2, k2, p2tog; repeat from ,- 102 sts.“ I found that it worked out correctly when I did the following, “k1, p1 (instead of 2), k2, p2tog; repeat from,- 102 sts.

Minor change: I worked my hat 1” shorter than recommended before starting the decrease section. As always, it’s best to check the fit of any garment as you go (if this is doable) and I felt that it would not fit me appropriately otherwise.

This is a really well-written pattern which produces beautiful results. As any stitcher knows, Artyarns produces truly luxurious fibre which is always a delight with which to work.
