Notes

1/24/12: Katamari is easily one of my brother’s favorite games (I actually got him Damacy for his birthady last year). He really wants a magnetic katamari ball, so I am making him one along with his own little prince.

1/25/12: Let’s see if a second evening is enough to finish the little guy. Good thing CJ has a night class :3

Some other leftovers, not yet recorded in my stash were used as well:

  • Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn! Solids in 340 Buttercup (from Tina’s Baby Set)
  • Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice Solids in 174 Olive (from Bob’s Dr. Who Scarf)
  • Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn! Solids in Mulberry (from Emma’s birthday gift)

The head was worked using the colors in the following order:
A. Deep Forest (outermost green)
B. Olice (outer ring)
C. Sagey Tweed (inner ring)
D. Forest (main color for head and body)

According to the pattern, the face is 12 st by 12 rows. I didn’t want to deal with twisting, so I crocheted a separate piece for the face that I will attach and smooth out using a Buttercup slip stitch border. The face was made using Cream in a sport weight and an E hook: 16 stitches x 14 rows.

I also thought I only joined the rounds with a slip stitch (no ch1) where the colors changed, otherwise I worked in a spiral.

For the face embroidery, I will be using minimal amounts of Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn! Sport Solid in Red, Orange, and Black

For the body, I want to make that dark green stripe (using B) a ridge as in the pictures. So for round 6 I will be crocheting in the front loop, and for round 7 I will be crocheting in the back loop.

He’s going to be a bit subdued in color, but I’m trying to use up scrap yarns, plus the colors seem to be working with each other rather well despite making him less bright and more muted…
