Notes

I tried doing a 3-stitch garter border but found that because the border was a different row gauge than the scarf, it caused the edges to be tighter and it didn’t look very good with the main pattern, so I frogged and redid as per the pattern.

I thought about purling through the back loop on the odd rows, but in the end I was too lazy. I enjoyed zipping down the row purling everything in between the borders.

Rather than using stitch markers for each drop stitch column, on the even side rows, I would knit through the back loop and drop the next stitch, pulling the fabric to get it to drop easily. I’d then pick up the top bar of yarn and knit that, all with the right hand needle, then knit through the back loop for the next stitch (I knit continental style). This ended up being really fast. This way, I didn’t have to count stitches or use markers, and I didn’t have to drop the stitches at the end, instead I was dropping the stitches as I went.

In order to get a scarf sized width rather than the full shawl size, after Section 1 (set-up), did Section 2 (increase rows) only twice, then repeated Increase Rows 1 to 6 once more. Moved on to Section 3.

Scarf ended up being rather twisty but that might be a nice stylistic thing. The color way looks good with this pattern.
