Notes

Thought this pattern would show off the color way best.

Followed directions exactly except for gussets. Picked up stitches, not pick up and knit, along sides of heel flap. Also picked up extra stitches at the end of needle 1 and beginning of needle 3. First round after picking up stitches, knit picked up stitches through the back loop, did not do decreases as in the Gusset round 2 instructions in the book. Instea at the end of needle 1, knit last two stitches together through the back loop and at beginning of needle 3, slipped first two stitches and knit together through the back loop. Next round, knit as instructions indicate for round 2. Decreased until 60 stitches remained.

Followed the instructions in the book and started the toe when foot was 6” long, but I tried the sock on before binding off the toe and it was way too short (I am a size 8). The toe (33 rounds) is approximately 2.5” long. So I frogged back and continued in pattern until foot was 7” long before starting the toe. Also, I didn’t like the decreases on the last 3 rounds of the toe, so for the sl1, k1, psso decrease in those rows, the stitch I slipped was the (sl1, k1, psso) stitch from the previous row, rather than slipping the knit stitch before that.

3/2015: I don’t know what happened, but I wore these socks fine, and then I washed them and tried them on again, and suddenly they’re 1-1.5” too long. So I frogged back to 6” to do the toe according to the pattern, but with the altered decreases as I mentioned above for the last 3 rounds. Also, I had put down US 0 for the needle, but when I tried that to redo the toe, it seemed too small, so I tried US 1 and that seemed to work better. Also, the pattern uses US 1 so I’m not sure if I put US 0 by mistake when I actually used US 1. I changed it to US 1.
