Notes

I talked with Cara at an author’s retreat/conference in July and she mentioned she’d like a lace shawl. I offered to knit one for her if she’d just buy the yarn. She picked this shawl pattern, which I was really happy about since I’ve been wanting to knit it. The Gloss Lace yarn she chose is really nice to work with--the silk in the yarn gives it a bit of a sheen, the color has hints of amethyst, and it will be very delicate when it’s blocked.

8/28/09: Doing the border stitches. On the two short ends, at the end of every 8th row of the Melon border, I knit the border stitch thru the back loop with TWO center panel stitches instead of one.

9/3/09: Blocking the shawl. It ended up being larger than I expected. There was just no way I could block it at the 17” x 72” in the book. I guess my gauge must have been larger than the gauge printed in the book. It turned out beautifully, though. I just hope it’s not too long for Cara.
