I dropped down a needle size for the 1x1 rib at the top, I think it lays better.

I also was stashbusting, and used DK for the wrists and Aran for the hands. I don’t think I would do that again… the gauge on the wrists turned out just a shade too slim.

I love that this pattern uses both charts and written out for the cabling. I found myself going back and forth between them occasionally (I am usually a 100% pure chart girl).

It’s a very user friendly pattern, and very well organized.

I would not do the thumb gussets as written, with increases every row. It’s an awkward final fit… I would adjust it to increasing every other row.
